Brassington Wickerman

In 2008 we shall be celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Brassington Wickerman.

The 18ft tall Wickerman shall be placed outside the Miners Arms, Brassington, Derbyshire from Sunday 27th July until Saturday 2nd of August.

During this time it is hoped that visitors will place a wish into the box placed at the base of the Wickerman, these wishes to be burnt with effigy.

At 8.00pm on Saturday 2nd of August the Wickerman shall be lowered and carried through the streets of Brassington to Wirksworth Dale, followed by a torch light procession.

On arrival at Wirksworth Dale the Wickerman shall be stood for one last time and then burnt in the traditional way.

This year the event is been carried out to raise money for the Save the children charity.
